Ensuring range safety requires a thorough pre-mission understanding of launch vehicle dynamics and tracking systems, as
well as complete situational awareness during launch. In response to the need to mitigate launch risk, AGI developed
software technology to rapidly evaluate mission plans, tracking system requirements, and communications links. Additionally,
AGI’s real-time data processing provides mission operators with the ability to quickly assess mission anomalies and
assist in termination decisions.
Relevant AGI capabilities:
-
3-D visualization of launches for mission planning, operations, and post-mission analysis
- Visualize realistic test elements for planning complete missions
- Embed real-time performance data of launch, flight, and staging within visualizations
- Accurate and immediate virtual viewing beyond tracking camera range
- Compare nominal versus actual vehicle kinematics
- Interactive visualization of thousands of externally calculated debris fragments
- Define launch geometries relative to restricted areas and GIS data such as wildlife refuges, cities, highways, etc.
-
Study launch windows and trajectories
- Calculate available launch windows using ephemeredes of tracked space objects
- Model flight profile for launch vehicle and targets
- Analyze time, range, azimuth, and elevation
- Analyze technical performance data
- Evaluate return from orbit risk
-
Design communications systems for launch vehicles and ground systems
- Model flight safety margins
- Evaluate uplink power and downlink signal margins
- Predict BER, S/N, and EIRP
- Evaluate the effect of weather on RF communications
- Optimize antenna heights for ground systems
-
Analyze tracking sensors
- Model sensor systems and coverage margins for vehicle anomalies
- Implement Az/El mask obscurations
- Optimize sensor coverage of trajectory from lift-off to orbital insertion
- Predict tracking radar performance and relative aspect angles during flight
- Time correlate flight profile, launch sensors, and tracking sensors
- Simultaneous analysis of available line of sight between ground systems and launch vehicles for various geographic locations
