Insert Facility From Facility Database

Use the Insert From Facility Database tool to search for known facilities or ground station networks.

The Insert From Facility Database tool is available from the Insert menu.

If you load a facility or target using the Facility database, information for the inserted facility or target appears on the Description page of its Basic properties.

The Facility Database also provides obscura az-el masks for selected ground sites, including NASA STDN, USAF AFSCN, and PrioraNet. The masks are automatically loaded when the facilities are loaded from the Search Result Window.

Searching the Facility Database

Enter as many search criteria as possible. If you do not know the exact criteria, you can enter a partial name or use the wildcard character *.

Search Criteria Description
Site Name To search for a facility by name, select Site Name and enter the full pr partial name of the facility.
Advanced... To search for a facility using advanced options, click Advanced....

Search Results

All facilities that meet the search criteria are listed. The results are sorted by site name. To sort the results by a different column, double-click the column heading.

If there are a number of items resulting from the search, you can select one or more items in the list to be inserted into your scenario. Use the SHIFT or CTRL key to select more than one item.

Modifying the Color and Model for the Selected Facilities

To specify a label color for the selected facilities, clear Auto Select Color to select the color.

To change the model for the selected facilities, click the Model browse button and browse to the desired model file.

Defining a Constellation of Facilities

You can group facilities into a single unit called a constellation object. To create a constellation of facilities:

  1. Select one or more facilities to be added to the constellation.
  2. To specify a specific label color for the facilities in the constellation, clear Auto Select Color to select the color.
  3. Select Create Constellation from Selected Facilities and enter a name for the constellation.
  4. Click Insert to create the constellation. The constellation object is added to the object browser.
