Add Some Sensors
Sensor objects can be used to represent optical or
radar sensors, antennas, and lasers on facilities and vehicles in
STK. Practice attaching sensors to the ground stations in the
scenario. If the Insert STK Objects window is still open, close
it.
- Select New from the Insert
menu to open the Insert STK Objects dialog.
- Select Sensor
icon in the Select An Object field.
- Select Insert Default
from the Select A Method field.
- Click Insert....
- Select Wallops in the Select Object window. A new sensor
appears in the Object Browser as a child (sub-object) of the
Wallops facility.
- Close the Insert STK Objects window.
- Rename the sensor NorthSensor and open its Properties Browser.
Select the Definition page in the Basic area.
- Ensure that Simple Conic is the Sensor Type
and 45 degrees is the Cone Angle.
- Click OK to apply any changes, and dismiss the
Properties Browser.
- Add a sensor to the Perth facility, and name it
SouthSensor.
- Open the Definition page for SouthSensor, and
ensure that Simple Conic is the Sensor Type and
45 degrees is the Cone Angle.
- Look at the graphical representation of the fields of view of
the two sensors in the 2D Graphics window.
- In the 3D Graphics window, rotate the view and observe the 3D
cones that are projected from the sensors into space.
- Return to the Definition page for SouthSensor,
increase the Cone Angle to 60 degrees, and click
OK.
- Observe the effect of the increase in the cone angle in the 2D
and 3D Graphics windows.
Next, calculate
access between the MEO satellite and the sensors.
