Mission Toolbars | Mission List | Mission Profile
The Mission window is used to define the aircraft's route when Aircraft Mission Modeler has been selected as the propagator. The Route properties page for the aircraft object transforms into the Mission window - although it remains labeled the Route page in the properties browser. It is in this window that you will define the Mission that the aircraft will perform. A Mission encompasses the entire route traveled and all actions performed by the aircraft within a scenario.
The Mission window is comprised of three main areas - the mission toolbars, the mission list, and the mission profile. Each of these areas is described in detail below.
The Mission window contains three toolbars - Initial Aircraft Setup, Phases of Flight, and Procedures and Sites - that allow you to define the aircraft that you want to model, and create, modify, and delete phases and procedures. Depending on the mission element - phase or procedure - that is highlighted in the mission list, the relevant toolbar will be active and the irrelevant toolbar will be grayed out. An additional button - Edit in 3D - allows you to switch to the 3D graphics window to use 3D mission editing.
The buttons on the Initial Aircraft Setup toolbar are used to define the aircraft model that will be used in the mission. For complete details of how aircraft models are defined, refer to the Initial Aircraft Setup section of the Aircraft Mission Modeler help.

|
|
Phase Properties | Opens the Phase Properties window to allow the definition of performance models and other phase properties. |
The buttons on the Procedures and Sites toolbar are used to define the phases of the mission. For complete details of how phases are defined and used in a mission, refer to the Procedures and Sites section of the Aircraft Mission Modeler help.

Insert Procedure Before Procedure | Inserts a new procedure before the currently selected procedure. |
|
|
Insert Procedure After Phase/Procedure | Inserts a new procedure after the currently selected phase or procedure. |
|
|
Modify Site | Opens the site's properties window to allow editing of the currently selected procedure's site parameters. |
|
|
Change Site Type | Opens the Site Configuration window to allow the currently selected procedure's site to be completely redefined; the current site definition does not appear in the window, but if you cancel this operation the definition will be preserved. |
|
|
Modify Procedure | Opens the currently selected procedure's properties window to allow the editing of the procedure's parameters. |
|
|
Change Procedure Type | Opens the Procedure Configuration window to allow the currently selected procedure to be completely redefined; the current procedure definition does not appear in the window, but if you cancel this operation the definition will be preserved. |
|
|
Set Time | Opens the Procedure Time window to allow the definition of the currently selected procedure's timing. |
|
|
Delete | Deletes the currently selected mission element; this button is active for any mission element, except for a phase if it is the only phase in the mission. |
The mission list provides an overview of the mission by listing each of the mission phases and the procedures within them, in the order in which they will be executed. Phases are simply noted by their names, while procedures are noted by their site, procedure, and time. You can expand or collapse the display of the list of procedures within a phase by clicking + or - on a phase in the list. In addition, the mission list provides two extensive right-click menus of commands, depending on the currently selected mission element. These menus are defined in the following tables:
Phase Menu
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
| Insert new mission phase before | Inserts a new phase before the phase. |
| Insert new mission phase after | Inserts a new phase after the phase. |
| Rename mission phase | Opens the Phase Name window to allow the definition of a specific name for the phase. |
| Phase Properties | Opens the Phase Properties window to allow the definition of performance models and other phase properties. |
| Delete mission phase | Deletes the phase. |
| Update All | Recalculates the mission and refreshes the Mission Profile. |
Procedure Menu
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
| Insert new procedure before | Inserts a new procedure before the procedure. |
| Insert new procedure after | Inserts a new procedure after the procedure. |
| Insert phase at this position | Inserts a new phase before the procedure. |
| Modify Site | Opens the site's properties window to allow editing of the procedure's site parameters. |
| Change Site Type | Opens the Site Configuration window to allow the procedure's site to be completely redefined; the current site definition does not appear in the window, but if you cancel this operation the definition will be preserved. |
| Modify Procedure | Opens the procedure's properties window to allow the editing of the procedure's parameters. |
| Change Procedure Type | Opens the Procedure Configuration window to allow the procedure to be completely redefined; the current procedure definition does not appear in the window, but if you cancel this operation the definition will be preserved. |
| Copy Site Definition | Copies the definition of the procedure's site, which can be pasted into another site definition of the same type using any of the site paste functions. |
| Paste Site Definition | Pastes the definition of the procedure's site from the copy currently in Aircraft Mission Modeler's buffer. |
| Copy Procedure Definition | Copies the definition of the procedure to the clipboard, which can be pasted into another procedure of the same type using any of the procedure paste functions. |
| Paste Procedure Definition | Pastes the definition of the procedure from the copy currently in Aircraft Mission Modeler's buffer. |
| Set Time | Opens the Procedure Time window to allow the definition of the procedure timing. |
| Set Animation Time | Sets the time of the 3D Graphics window to the procedure's time. |
| Final Profile State | Opens the Profile Data window, displaying the end state of the procedure. |
| Delete | Deletes the procedure. |
| Update All | Recalculates the mission and refreshes the Mission Profile. |
The mission profile can display a variety of data relative to time or the downrange distance of the aircraft. The default profile is defined by the aircraft's altitude relative to its downrange distance. All of the data utilized by the mission profile is generated from the data providers that are used to create reports and graphs. The appearance of the profile can be customized from a right-click menu in the same manner as other standard STK graphs. In addition, the menu contains the following commands specific to Aircraft Mission Modeler:
| Command | Description |
|---|---|
| Profile Data | Opens the Profile Data window for the selected point. |
| Change Altitude | Allows you to change the altitude of the aircraft at the selected point, when this menu is invoked from a dot along a graph line. |
| Chart Axes... | Opens the Chart Axes window, which allows you to define the X and primary and secondary Y axes of the profile. |
| Undo Zoom | Zooms out the profile display to its default view. |
The Profile Data window displays mission data at the point in the mission profile at which it is invoked from the right-click command menu. Click Set Animation Time to set the time of the 3D Graphics window to the time displayed in this window. Click Copy Initial State Procedure to copy the data in this window needed to define an Initial State procedure to the clipboard; in the same way, you can use the Copy Profile Data button to copy the data needed to define the initial state of a Sequenced Climb or Sequenced Descent performance model, or the Copy Waypoint Site button to copy the data needed to define a Waypoint site.
