AGI Scenarios, Utilities, and Tutorials

For STK 8 Users

Scenarios

  • Communications
    • Multi-Beam Interference—This scenario demonstrates the use of the multi-beam antenna for analysis from a ground station in Asia-Pacific to a Low Earth Orbiting (LEO) satellite constellation, with each satellite having a multi-beam transmitter.

    • Custom Transmitter Model—Demonstrates the use of plug-in scripts for modeling custom transmitters.

    • Custom Receiver Model—Demonstrates the use of plug-in scripts for modeling custom receivers.

    • Custom Rain Loss Model—Demonstrates the use of plug-in scripts for custom rain loss models.

    • Custom Gaussian Antenna Gain—Demonstrates the use of plug-in scripts for modeling custom antennas. In this case the antenna is Gaussian with a rectangular dish. Its gain and beamwidth vary as a function of satellite position.

    • Custom Satellite Selection Strategy—Demonstrates the use of plug-in scripts for modeling custom satellite selection strategies for a communication interference model, viz. a CommSystem in STK.

    • Custom Comm Constraints—Demonstrates the use of plug-in scripts for modeling custom communication constraints for transmitters and receivers.

    • Custom MultiBeam Selection Strategy—Demonstrates the use of plug-in scripts for modeling custom beam selection strategies for multibeam antennas.

    • Custom Absorption Model—Demonstrates the use of plug-in scripts for custom absorption loss models.

    • Simple Phased Array Antenna Gain Model—An example custom antenna gain plugin that models the mainbeam boresight gain as a broadside (i.e. zero scan angle) maximum gain value reduced by the cosine of the scan angle. Off-boresight mainbeam gain and sidelobe structures are not modeled.

  • Defense
    • Threat Lighting—This scenario and accompanying Analyzer trade study parametrically examine the change in midcourse sun illumination as a function of burnout time. The trajectory start and end locations are held constant while the time of day is changed in 10 minute increments over a 24 hour period.

Utilities

  • AGI Cursors—AGI has created the above customized Working in Background and Busy cursors to replace the default versions of these cursors on your system.

  • Aircraft Trajectory Viewer—This utility allows an STK user to easily display a report of any Aircraft route and quickly update the scenario animation time based on points along the route.

  • DeadZone—This utility computes when a Satellite flies directly over an AreaTarget (DeadZone) and creates an interval exclusion during this time (Temporal Constraint). Intervals can also optionally be applied to sensors on satellites as both an interval constraint and display times.

  • KML Export Utility—The following utility converts your STK analysis into KML data. By opening the tool in STK’s HTML window, users can select from the objects present in a loaded STK scenario and output KML files for display in Google Earth, NASA World Wind, ESRI’s ArcGIS Explorer, and other KML-compliant virtual globe readers.

  • Satellite Ephemeris Viewer—Using a scenario of your choice, this utility allows you to create ephemeris information reports for any satellite and use the ephemeris point times to change the current animation time.

  • Virtual Earth KML Reader—Microsoft Virtual Earth can read in data through its open API. With the KML Export Utility and Reader both open in STK, users can export STK data and then open that data in the Virtual Earth Reader. For more information, view the ReadMe file included in the utility download.

"It is almost unbelieveable that the Product Support responses came within one hour of forwarding the question to them. Don't change this winning team!"
