Navigation Tool Kit/Payload Planner

Navigation Tool Kit/Payload Planner Navigation Tool Kit/Payload Planner enables Navigation Tool Kit users to model precision guided munitions (PGMs), performing what-if analyses for different weapon types, ingress routes, and environmental effects. Users can also optimize each sortie to allow for decreased attrition and increased effectiveness.

Flight profiles can be customized and used to model the system's real-world physics and constraints. Specific payload parameters can be defined to include mass, diameter, length, drag coefficient, and span efficiency factors. Model trajectories, predict navigation accuracy, and calculate system performance (Circular/Spherical Error Probable). Use the miss distance combined with the weapon and target type to determine the probability of mission success.

  • Highlights

    • Conduct detailed navigation analysis for PGMs using precise GPS satellite data
    • Calculate flight profiles based on target locations and desired time on targets
    • Customize inputs for primary platform routes, munitions trajectories, and target locations
    • Model munitions with both ballistic or powered/glide trajectories
    • Perform what-if analyses for jamming and terrain environments
    • Insert saved or custom attitude and waypoint files for both platforms
    • Assist the air operation center (AOC) in real time operations

Conduct detailed navigation analysis for PGMs

Precision Guided Munitions (PGMs) are dependent upon the accuracy of their guidance systems. NavTK/Payload Planner uses up-to-the-minute correction files for each navigation satellite, coupled with accurate models for error effects such as atmospheric conditions, signal receiver clock timing, jamming, and terrain obscuration.

Calculate flight profiles for primary and secondary platforms

Based on target locations and desired times on target, users can determine optimal primary platform routes for aircraft while calculating the trajectory for a PGM. Munition modeling for both ballistic or powered/glide trajectories can be performed.

Insert saved or custom attitude and waypoint files.

With NavTK/Payload Planner, users can input attitude, ephemeris, and waypoint files for their primary platforms in order to define asset routes and orientations.

Customize inputs for munition drop assets

Accurately model aircraft; ballistic and guided munitions; ground targets; and jammers using customizable profiles from the NavTK Catalog Manager. Definable characteristics include receiver or jammer type, platform body masking, altimeter types, and Inertial Navigation System parameters for land, sea, air, and space vehicle platforms. Receiver and emitter antennas can be customized and pointed.

Perform what-if analyses for jamming and terrain environments

In real-world applications, the navigation accuracy for PGMs may be compromised in mountainous areas or in jamming environments. NavTK/Payload Planner accounts for these interference effects by bringing in terrain data, model ground emitters, and ground based propagation effects in the target and surrounding areas.
